Visiting Western Missouri
Make your way through western Missouri on your next spring or summer vacation – let the Show Me State show you a thing or two. From Cameron, in the north, to Springfield and Branson in the south, there’s much the spring and summer offer in western Missouri. While Kansas City is the largest city and hub of tourism, don’t miss out on a visit Carthage – the kids will love a tour of the Battle of Carthage Civil War Museum, and then head into Joplin for the races at North Fork Speedway – enjoy the stock car racing every Sunday night in April.
Keep the exploration of Joplin alive – head to the Visitor Center at George Washington Carver National Monument and enjoy Against the Odds, The Artists of the Harlem Renaissance on February 2nd. Drive in from Neosho and check out the MSSU Cornell Auditorium for a viewing of The Youth of Chopin, part of the MSSU International Film Festival – March 26.
Make your way into Springfield and enjoy plenty of local flair. April 4th through 6th, head to the Landers Theatre for a live performance of A Chorus Line. Ever look to the sky and wonder if there’s life out there? You’ll fit right in at the Inaugural Ozarks Paranormal Convention, April 6th at the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Mosque – drive in from Lebanon and enjoy the mysteries!
If you’re looking for an experience this spring with a big city feel to it, head to Kansas City. Home to professional sports, famous BBQ, and a wealth of interesting attractions, you’re sure to make a slew of memories.
Take the whole family out and experience America’s pastime – baseball. Head to Kauffman Stadium on March 8th for the Kansas City Royals season home opener when they face the Minnesota Twins – you won’t mind the drive in nearby Independence.
Enjoy a live performance of Death of a Salesman when you visit the Spencer Theatre, playing now through February 10th. Head to the Quality Hill Playhouse now through February 27th and check out a live performance of I’ll Be Seeing You.
Visit Kansas City later in the summer, and head to downtown – you’ll want a good seat for the KC Festival of Fountains. Scheduled for June 9th, the KC Festival of Fountains is a free event, and perfect for all ages – make the drive in from Sedalia or Brookfield.
