From hiking and boating in eastern Missouri, to fishing and swimming in the western missouri – the Show Me State has no shortage of state parks, and all the perks. Near St. Louis, put Hawn State Park on your radar. One of the premier hiking destinations in Missouri, visitors have 4 hiking trails to chose from, ranging from the slight Overlook Trail, at just 300 feet long, to the more adventurous Whispering Pines Trail, with nearly 10 miles of trail. 

Leave solid ground for an aquatic adventure, and head to Table Rock State Park, on the eastern shore of Table Rock Lake in Branson. An hour south of Springfield, Table Rock Lake, and the State Park Marina, offer boat rentals – including WaveRunners – and guided fishing excursions for visitors. Also in the area – an hour north of Springfield – is Bennett Spring State Park, featuring some of the best trout fishing in Missouri. Fishing at Bennett Spring does require a fishing license for anyone over the age of 15, however.
