Prairie State Park
Preserving much of the state’s remaining tall-grass prairie land, Prairie State Park is located in western Missouri, an hour north of Joplin. Covering almost 4,000 acres, the park offers visitors panoramic views of ever-changing wildflowers and free-roaming wildlife.
Prairie State Park serves as a popular destination for viewing grassland animals such as elk and bison, and a heard of bison call the park home. The park’s visitor center provides exhibits designed to inform visitors of all ages about the unique landscape the park protects.
